1800s

William J. Vessey and Alice L. Vessey moved their family from the west coast to the east coast in the late 1800s where they purchased William’s Point in Somerset County, Maryland.

1926

William and Alice planted the first apple and peach trees, along with their son Guy S. Vessey and daughter-in-law Ethel M. Vessey.

1930s

Upon William’s death, Alice sold William’s Point and purchased the current location of Vessey Orchards.  Prior to her death Alice sold the property to Guy and Ethel.

Guy and Ethel increased the variety of fruit trees (apples, peaches, plums, and cherries) and started a pick your own fruit business along with their son William G. (Bill) and daughter-in-law Nancy M. Vessey.

1960s

Guy and Ethel sold the property to Bill and Nancy M. Under Bill and Nancy’s ownership, Vessey Orchards became a place where families came every year to pick their own apples and peaches and make great family memories.
